9ice Singer Bites The Dust At APC Primary Election

9ice
Singer bites the dust at APC
primary election
Singer 9ice has joined the growing list of
casualties in the primary elections from
different political platforms.
Singer Abolore Akande » , popularly known as
9ice, is the latest of the entertainment
personalities to have lost out in the All
Progressive Congress, APC, primary elections
held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, losing out
on the chance to represent the Ogbomosho
North/Ogbomosho South/Orire Federal
Constituency in the House of Representatives
come 2015, as he was denied the ticket. He lost
the ticket to the son of an Ogbomoso high chief
Prince Akeem Oyewunmi who got a total of 270
votes with 9ice getting 142 votes.
It was not for lack of trying or efforts by the
Gongo Aso crooner, because going by his
campaign strategies where he made and
distributed customized palmwine, Zobo Drinks,
palm oil » and even rode on a horse » while
going to submit his nomination forms, he could
have clinched the ticket.
But the realities of politics is gradually dawning
on Nigerian entertainers who felt that their
popularity in the entertainment world could
translate into general acceptance in the political
field, as many of them have realised that it takes
more to succeed in the field of politics.
With the primary elections to choose those that
will represent the parties in the 2015 elections
almost rounding up in all the parties in the
nation, these entertainers have been tumbling
like a pack of cards, showing that the people and
the party stakeholders do not think they can give
them adequate representation or win at the
elections.
Only Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has so far
been successful in picking up a ticket while the
likes of Kenneth Okonkwo, Tony Tetuila, Kenny
Saint Brown, Kate Henshaw, Dayo D1 Adeneye
and others have all bitten the political dust.
